OK, I think this time we nailed it. This needs no introduction. Just watch the next 22 seconds and tell us what YOU think. ;)

As for me, when this clip came together, all I could think of was "!!!"

So does it sound like him or not? :D

  • Wow! This is just as good, if not better, that the classic Sesame nature clips - even if Kermit doesn't introduce it. :)

  • Thank you so much!

  • Hey: want to hear us get even closer to Joe Raposo's studio sound? Visit my video titled "Andante", and have your speakers on... I would love your vote comments on how Raposoesque it sounds or doesn't sound!

  • "Andante" is on page 7 of my videos, posting # 4.

  • this is dead on! it's a valiant thing to try to simulate his sound. the one thing that drew me into raposo's music as a child was the slight bit of melancholia in his music.

  • OK, I could see that :)

  • Writing & recording fake Raposo? That's probably one of those left-field dream jobs I hadn't realized would/could ever exist.

  • And PS, you're dead accurate about the bells and the mids. Joe always strung high glockenspiel bells along the tops of his melodies like tiny lit birthday cake candles. Check out my video "Andante" and see if I got any closer to la mode Raposo ;)

  • Heh, never expected to see attempted fake Joe Raposo on here. Nice - dig that flute. If you want to make it truly sound like it was lifted from a '74 SS short though, add the standard high Raposo bells to play along w/ the melody, make everything a tiny bit more out-of-tune, and re-EQ (lot less bass, bump the mids up).

  • Yup, this is Raposo-esque. I like all of his music. Although I didn't see it myself, I read somewhere they found a way to get one of the clips he did the music for into an episode of the "New" Sesame Street ("Elmo-Era"), thanks to "Global Grover"
