I have a USA Navy friend that was in a helicoptor crash everyone lived and no one asked God for help when it was going down including my friend. I am a Ret. Sgt. from the Canadian Forces and an Atheist. It pisses me off when some fuck nut says shit like that to me. It is funny but most of the time those dickheads are not even im the military nor have been. Good luck be safe.

@andyrooney12 This is mikeybrun... my other screenname. I'm no longer in the SD area but when I lived there I lived in north PB. As an atheist who is currently developing and finding value in buddhism (an atheistic religion), I can still say confidently that no trauma has ever made me believe in the outlandish unfounded supernatural dogma of religion or pushed me to beg for the help of someone/something who simply isn't there. Thanks for the comment, and for taking the time to hear me rant.

Hey, are you in Oceanside by any chance? I used to live in Coronado and there's a big military community there but now I'm in Oceanside and there's a huge Marines community here because of Camp Pendleton. I got a lot of respect for you...keep up the good work. Oh, and about user "Ezcut", just ignore him...he's just not used to having a woman by his side. Anyhow, I never got to join the Marines because of an injury when I was young but if I made it then I'd be another Atheist in the foxhole.

We have an inherited "reflex" to turn to the supernatural when under extreme panic. It's not because the atheist has simply "seen the error in their ways" and wants to quickly insure their pass into heaven before they get blown in the head. It's simply impulsive while in a panic.

Here's a random thought. People with ADD and ADHD are known to be more calm during chaotic events. So I wonder what would happen if an atheist, ADD soldier gets in a foxhole and was calm. Would they be preying too?

HEY DEVIL, Your argument is weak because you already stated that you have never been in a foxhole under fire. I also see all these people commenting "Ohh I've been in the Army and I am an Atheist" OK thats not the point of the line. The whole point of the saying is for people who have been in a foxhole alone taking rounds.

there's always exceptions. Typically, when faced with mortality people do gravitate toward religion. I'm sure you saw the difference in religious services, in garrison and delpoyed.
