@andyt2k You can use any Windows or Mac PC with a Optical drive to remote connect for the Air and Mini (and now ALL Macs; great if you remove the Optical for an SSD) to rip movies or install programs.

4 years later, everyone is doing ultra books at CES. I remember when this came out it got criticized a lot by everyone. Looking at how Intel is pushing the category nowadays, you have to give apple credit for being one the first companies pushing it to mass market.

@andyt2k Its not a good computer to have on its own and yes you need an optical drive. But it's aimed to be something you travel with and something portable. I have a new one of these and an iMac and I have to say it works great. I don't miss the optical drive because all my movies are already loaded on my iMac and I can access them there and if you have this paired with an iMac or another Mac it is great this is like an extension of my computer without having to carry 20 pounds around.

@chubbers1001 Yeh if i have a movie on DVD, i don't want to pay to rent it again on itunes, if i have software i want to install, i dont want to have to find someone with another computer, put the cd in their computer, access their CD drive from my macbook, install it that way etc
Sorry but Opticle drives are needed
