Nobody is mentioning that George Best played football with the rock that was the football in those days, a huge heavy stone that was a labour to move let alone head. At the obvious risk of being sexist, women can kick and head the thing these days. Ah but perhaps that's what you guys think is a brave new world. Football stinks today (cheats + money = happy marriage)

Messi is the greatest modern day footballer in the world. But to a certain degree, he has sufficient help from Xavi and Iniesta. Best had nobody. It was all himself. Two great footballers. Two of the best ever. Let's not compare and just watch in awe.

George Best(from North Ireland) was the greatest British player ever and in my book one of the top ten ever. Unfortunately his extreme alcoholism(it killed his mother) affected his play in later years, cut his career short and put him in an early grave.
