So, you are off Medicaid now. I'm assuming you now have group health insurance through an employer.
Sounds to me like like your employer needs to change plans. I do agree however that co-pays, deductibles, and coinsurance are brutal in the community rated market. The PPACA seems to have done nothing yet.
The plan that offers the least amount of out of pocket expenses is Empire BCBS's Prism EPO plan. The owner of your company needs to get this plan implemented in your organization.

While everyone's heart goes out to you, socialized healthcare is not the answer. Making 360 million people pay for just 12 million of people without healthcare is unreasonable don't you think? The answer is quite simple and it is called "Tort Reform" but don't tell that to congress because "trial Lawyers" would be the biggest losers. Good luck trying to get congress on your side since it's the Trial lawyers, the Rederal Reserve, & Shearson Lehman to help the common man, It's all about control!

We'll have to agree to disagree. The best medical care I ever received in my life was Medicaid. I'd LOVE to pay my premiums directly to medicaid and have it again. Now I'm what is called "under insured". I have insurance but the deductables and copays are so high I can't use it!

Tort Reform would take care of your very issues. Consider the fact that Medicaid goes in the hole 6 billion dollars every 3 months and also consider the fact that with the healthcare plan sitting in the Senate this very moment, Medicaid will lose another 40% funding which means no doctor in their right mind will take on Medicaid patients getting on 30 cents on the dollar. Pls note I am also uninsured Kim but want gov't out of my life. It's all about control Kim, not about helping you.

Who do you think controls my medical care now? Doctors? That's a laugh. It's my insurance company that says who I can see, when, how often, and how much I'll have to pay. They say what medicines I'm allowed to take, what is medically necessary, what is "not covered". When I was on Medicaid... everything was covered. There was no question of could I have this medicine or that. Could I have this test... could I see this doctor. The last thing when you're sick that you need is to hear No.
