A photo montage of Bob Dylan set to my version of his classic "I Shall Be Released". I was trying out the studio recording software Cakewalk (Sonar) for the first time. Would have liked to have had the guys from the band to help on the harmonies - it's hard to dub your own :) ... Hope to get to do it live this summer with my first band Birch Magic which are reuniting after almost 30 years for the St. Lawrence Home Coming .. this song was always in the set list ...
Cheers

  • People are offended because the label of the video is easily misinterpreted.

I Shall be Released (Cover) would be an appropriate example.

Your cover is also quite sloppy.

  • @Fruscianteistheman Thanks .. I fixed the title to reflect it's a cover. As I said in the desc ... it was a first time try on Cakewalk Sonar recording software.... cheers.

  • You aren't Bob Dylan and you shouldn't do this.

  • @grainofsandfan Not claiming to be Dylan.. just an interpretation of a great Dylan song.. Youtube is full of people covering great songs .. Not sure why you're offended.

  • @grainofsandfan hey, whats your deal, man? I guess you should go rag on Joe Cocker, Richard Manuel, Jeff Buckley, Bette Middler, U2, elvis presley, and the beatles, among hundreds of other artists who've covered this song. You're a fucking tool, and a sad, pathetic excuse for a dylan fan if you get offended when people try to keep his music alive. Go die in a hole, Dylan doesn't need people like you bogging down his legacy.

Great cover, i realllyy dug the harmonies, man!! You earned a new sub!

  • @SmilinTunes Thanks SmilinTunes .. I'm just trying to pay homage to a great songwriter with a version of a classic ... Thank you for your kind words .. I kind of blended Dylan's style with that of The Band's when they recorded it. Richard Manual made this song his own .. sung with the pain I'm sure he felt at times. There are many releases (no pun) of this great song -- it has many meanings for many people .. I agree with your comments re: keeping Dylan's music alive.

    Thanks again ..
