I think there's an even more cynical reason for Dunwoody's promotion than your comment, afro. Bush nominated her in mid-year on what specific accomplishment? I can't find one. What it did do though, was give the GOP something to say it was a FIRST in. Since Obama was already running, the Republicans needed to be inclusive again. Certainly they could have promoted her way back in 2003. No, they waited and used her like a political Octoberfest. Too bad its now only to pad the Bush trainwreck.

Women haven't reached four-star rank because by law they are excluded from serving in combat roles, which historically have been the path to the highest-ranking positions. That exclusion still applies. How can a person who never served as a combatant, lead our men into the battle field? Anyway, thanks for doing your part to destroy my country. The CHinses, Russians, North Koreans, & Terrorists could have hoped for a better opportunity. Oh well, every Empire has to fall....
