i love playing contra, i play a yamaha and its well balanced and smooth and getting used to the weight happens simply through practice
-
I'm a sousa player and gotta admit, contras are lighter for sure
-
I play a King Contra at school and it's pretty heavy.
-
Just buy the 590 sousaphone, it's better.
-
Good thing i play a King one at my high school... :)
-
@saxmasta o-o its still a contrabass bugle... but in Bflat
-
@ElPolloLoco4330 my high school uses contras, and im a tuba player, so i love it :D
-
Balance is exceptional and yet he has trouble holding it straight for 22 seconds

I marched this horn for two years! CRAP!!!! The bell would fall off daily, who makes a detachable bell!!! Mine weighed 34 pounds! That is just dumb, the resonance was terrible. All of the bracing on it is plastic and it does nothing protect the tuba. This tuba gave me scoliosis! Luckily I'm in a corp with Yamaha's now.

@ElPolloLoco4330 Actually its a marching tuba. Contrabass bugles were in G. But we still call em contras cause they;re just as bad ass.
