About the event:

In his remarks, Mr. Semple made reference to General McChystals August 2009 assessment of US operations in Afghanistan, Afghan President Hamid Karzais inaugural address in November 2009 and the European Unions high-level report on Afghanistan and Pakistan prepared by the Council of the European Union entitled Strengthening EU Action in Afghanistan and Pakistan. (Links to these documents can be found on this page.)

In his remarks, Mr. Semple discussed a broad range of issues including the accountability of the Afghan government, the reconciliation of insurgents, bureaucratic development and the significance of both Afghanistan and Pakistan for global security.

About the speaker:

Michael Semple is a regional specialist focusing on Afghanistan and Pakistan, with extensive experience of dialogue with the Taliban.

    Many thanks Michle Semple

  • I listened to the presentation but was not able to get this man's point. This stupid man spent half of his life in Afganistan but still does not understand our country. He talks too fast and just rambles on without any consistency in his words.
