FISTER FESTIVAL

South By Southwest is one of the largest festivals in the world. They make a small fortune off of ticket sales, advertising, and various fees, but somehow feel OK asking comedians to perform for free AND pay for their own airfare and lodging.

To make sure I wasn't being a diva by turning down the festival I offered a Los Angeles Clown the same crappy deal South By Southwest offered me.

@MrEccentricGent Analogy one-sided?  Do you understand this isn't a charity benefit? This is a huge corporation that is using all of the "publicity, credibility and eyes" for their benefit. You take the stance that SXSW is doing performers a favor when in fact anyone in their right mind would turn down this offer. Even a clown.

Not that I entirely disagree, but your analogy is horribly one-sided. You're offering her a birthday party, they're offering you a spot on a stage at a massive festival. You get publicity, credibility, and eyes. She gets another birthday party. Not saying I would have taken the SXSW deal either, but at least make your analogy correct.
