This is a continuation of my Let's Play series of Final Fantasy IV Advance - Low Level Game / Initial Equipment.

In this video I will plunder Baron for its riches and venture into the Mist Cave to slay the Mist Dragon.

There's not much to slaying the Mist Dragon. Attack when it's formed, don't attack when it turns to Mist. I purposely kill off Kain so he doesn't get exp. from the fight since Cecil's level will reset later back to 1, as well as any exp. he will have gained up to that point.

  • " I purposely kill off Kain so he doesn't get exp. from the fight since Cecil's level will reset later back to 1, as well as any exp. he will have gained up to that point."

That doesnt make any sense dude, you gotta have mixed something up.

  • The way experience works is that people that have left your team still get experience even when they are gone. Say I have 5 members and get 5k exp. All 5 members get 1k exp. each. Those people that have left my team but will rejoin got 1k exp each. Now, if I had one person and get 5k exp, those people not in my team also gain 5k exp. So normally, to keep the lowest average exp. possible. (Cont.)

  • I can't kill anyone off because it will skew the exp. and levels later when people rejoin. But at the very beginning of the game, I've gained no other party members but Cecil and Kain. By killing Kain, Cecil gets all the experience and Kain gets none. When Cecil becomes a paladin later, his level and experience resets to 1 and 0, respectively. That is why I did what I did. I hope that makes a bit more sense.

  • well atleast a little bit xD

But i kinda get what you are saying. Does that apply to other games too?

  • The other ports of FFIV, yes. Not sure on the DS remake. As far as other games, couldn't tell you as every game's system is different.
