This is a reproduction of a Roman Aqueduct complete with bas relief of Alexander the great. I explain how to build a Bas relief casting on the VA website at www.verticalartisans.com Enjoy!

  • Our aqueduct is designed to entertain. That being said you would never see water running out of both side of the break in a working aqueduct. we constructed this aqueduct as a water feature, the bas relief in the background is an art piece on display. Your sense of reality as you say, must be firmly rooted in the past. I work in the thematic industry. We borrrow ideas or handiwork from earlier times and use them to educate or entertain. Thank you for noticing and commenting. All the best!

  • This is the 5th "Broken Aqueduct" water feature I've seen. Haven't enjoyed any of them. Why? Because the designers apparently have no clue of why aqueducts were built or how they work. All of them magically had water coming out of both sides of the break. It annoys my sense of reality. Although I did like the break being at the poorly designed arch that was made too weak to allow viewing of the relief. Together they are an ironic duplex of artistic license trumping proper engineering.
