iMac 27" screen buzz noise.
Faulty board that controls iMacs sceen brightness.
This problem only occurs when cpu is about 50degree Celcius.
I used cputest (freeware) to stress the cpu to get it at high temp.
PS: board has been replaced

  • My iMac is having the same problem. So it ended up being the power supply?

  • @MacGeek08

    Yep the power supply!

  • I was Wondering about the imacs 27 problems and I have an extrage dream, so 21 inches imac don't have problems right now, the problems its about the 27 inches imac, and I was thinking, that people that order Dual Core procesor come with ATI Radeon HD 4670, An I think that this GPU, can't with the 27 imac resolution, the people that have de quad core have ATI Radeon HD 4850, so if you r gonna buy an imac i recomend you buy it with the ATI Radeon HD 4850 gpu... =) Sorry bad english =/

  • My iMac is running perfect now, the problem wasn't in the GPU but it was a Faulty Power Supply. They first replaced the board backlight form the LCD pannel and they did this becaus the problem only occured when controling the brightness of the LCD pannel. Also the powersupply and the board backlight are build in next to eachother so the buzzing noise was difficult to pinpoint (= what the technician told me). So I think it all was a madder of bad luck.

  • :O... I mean when the screen is flickering

  • The screen of my iMac has never flickered???

  • That really blows. I have a similar problem that i can't figure out where its coming from. I have an 27" i3 that has all fans running at lowest speed but i still can hear them. The hdd is very noisy when working too but that doesn't bother me really. Its just the fan noise although they are all running very low. A friend of mine once pointed out that it could also be the hdds spinning that is making this noise. I guess noone else has ever had this issue right?

  • i hate this noise. glad i found this page

  • This is happening to mine now, but opposite... louder when brighter. **How long did the repair take?

  • Good thing macs are so reliable.

  • ...zzzzzzzzzz... hey, what's that sound?

  • It's just snoring. Maybe you overworked him? :)

  • @tweetyaja Thumbs up for bad grammar.
