Anthony Harvey's 1968 film of medieval intrigue. The Lion in Winter is an amazing film, with an outstanding cast -- including two first-timers named Anthony Hopkins and Timothy Dalton -- and an absolutely brilliant script.

Practically every line is a gem. The hardest part of making this tribuclip was deciding what to omit.

Great writing, awesome performances from Hepburn and O'Toole, great music, great costumes, great in every way. Surely this is one of my all time favorite movies. Sort of like a Medieval "ho's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?"

The most superb movie ever made. With the most superb cast, script, Barry score, and factual history for once wrapped and delivered to us like the most beautiful Christmas present. God bless Kate, Peter. Next to Lawrence of Arabia, just my favorite. Then Becket. Oh Kate, we hardly knew ye. How we miss ye. Give our humble respects to Spence....

@Zva26 I was just thinking that. I was YouTubing scenes from Virginia Wolf and realized both movies are about how couples compete for who can hurt whom the most. Sad but true. We get there sometimes. Both are great movies, great actors, great performances, terriffic scripts. Lion in Winter, my long standing favorite.

One of the best lines in cinema ever, spoken by one of cinema's greatest treasures, Katharine Hepburn, who won her third Best Actress Oscar for her work in this film. "How's that for desolation?"
