i replaced my superdrive, because it wouldnt read cd disc now since i replace with a new one it wont read disc and sounds crunchy an flutters when i insert the cd. i have early 2008 macbook 13" dual core 2.4 . i replaced it with this Apple SuperDrive DVD Burner Drive 8x - Macbook pro UJ-857. Does anyone know what the issue is or what is the exact superdrive compatible with my system..thanks

my superdrive no longer works, can I remove it while having my macbook function normally? Do i need to disable any settings first?

@simn22 - You don't need to disable any settings. Just open it up, swap it out, and you're good to go.
