My dad worked there for about 35 years. He passed away in 1989. I was sad to see the plant go. Lots of good memories for me.

HL&P stands for Houston Ligth & Power, so I would guess that it was something to do with a powerplant for electricity

hi guys! thanks for the comments it encourages me to post more of my retarded videos!
the building is the last of the HL&P houston light and power as DBIGFISH just mentioned. there was a closed viewing of the demolition which they turned into a sort of party as it was a momentous occasion. if youll notice there is an explosion on top first, which was totally unnecessary. they did it do that it would be more exciting for the crowd. stupid, but cool!
