These are video examples of a quick study I'm looking at. I'm looking at around a half dozen games from each console I have, and comparing the times from when you start up the console to the player's first interaction in the game's main menu. Featured here are Playstation 2 games.
The Playstation 2 has an approximate 15 second start up sequence. Game times are approximately from the fade out of the PS2 logo to the first main menu with choosable options.
Devil May Cry 3 - 27 seconds
God of War - 15 seconds
Ico - 25 seconds
Metal Gear Solid 3 - 33 seconds
Resident Evil 4 - 32 seconds
Disgaea - 21 seconds
Persona 4 - 41 seconds
Maybe you could answer this for me:
I never owned a PS2 until last year, when I moved in with my fiancée and started using hers. My question: When the "Sony Computer Entertainment" screen appears when the system is powered on, it takes some time for it zoom in and proceed to the PlayStation 2 logo (long enough for the sound to play through completely), where here it goes rather fast. Does that depend on the game in the console, or the console itself?
Apologies for an odd question. Merely curious

@AdamBlackthorne Hey, sorry for the super late response. To answer your question, I think it depends on the console itself. As the consoles wears with age, the laser may have issues reading discs quickly/immediately, which causes the longer time before the PS2 logo appears. When I did this video, I was using a new-ish slim model that hadn't gotten too much use.
