He certainly was. An innovator, and with a very unique voice and stage presence. Just him in general was very unique especially for that time. And Icon, he will surely be missed. He may not be a virtuoso to the highest degree or anything, but he's the King, and their is only one King.

@MeritMaestro Ya I suppose your right. Yet whatever he had he had it. He know doubt will be remembered more the names you mentioned as I only recognize a few, which is what I believe separates him from all of the other glam and glitz in Hollywood or other musicians. I would say he was a great singer more than a musician and h certainly was one of a kind in his own right for sure.

@Mycterizian He was an excellent entertainer,however as a musician, we was poor at best. He was a good looking fellow with fancy clothes and a smooth voice and rocking attitude, a symbol. But to say that he was the greatest musician of the 20th century is slapping true art in the face. Rachmaninoff, Horowitz, Rubinstein, Gould, Sabicas, Coltrane, Bird, Davis. These men belong on that platform.
