When I first listened to this I thought something didn't sound right. Then I realized it's NOT the Tantrums, it's Daryl's band. There's too much instrumentation. I like the sparse punch of the Tantrums better. The guitar just gets in the way and I never liked Shawn Pelton's drumming/shtick. Hired "pros" aren't always "better"....

Artistic merit and musical integrity are important... but in this case I thing Fitz and Daryl really enjoyed the collaboration,, and that trumps the other crap. Great rendition!!

So far this is my favorite video of "Live from Daryl's House," which I discovered on KERO-TV 23 @ 12:35 AM. Yes, the guitar, if not much of Daryl Hall's band, may interfere w/ the "purity" of Fitz & the Tantrums' sound, so perhaps it's good Daryl only sang the 2nd verse. I used 2 think Hall & Oates were rock legends. But that was 'cause my Dad had "Private Eyes" on vinyl & my childish knowledge of music hadn't expanded yet. (Hall & Oates is still pretty good, including Daryl's new stuff.)
