Alright mate, don't know if you can get Q magazine where you are, but if you can get this month's issue and turn to page 35 (Billy Bragg's column) - its about this song and references your video and youtube username - good work! :)

@postiesince89 This is my absolute favorite BB song...and yes, it is SO different than any song he has ever wriiten/recorded. Billy is a hero of mine....oh, wait, wasn't that a song??? LOL. almost- "Billy, don't be a hero!"
THANK YOU azcarf44. Fucking brilliant video!!! XXXX

'Blue Velvet America, half glimpsed in the headlights between the trees', what a perfect opening line. I toured the west coast on the strength of this song, looking for America and found it driving out of the Nevada Desert heading for the Sierra Nevadas and Lone Pine, where they filmed North by Northwest i think. . It's a panoramic song for a nation made for the big screen. Thank you Billy.

Hats off to you, azcarf44!

There are so many terrible fan-made videos. But man, your video here sure puts the song in perspective. I can't remember having such a bizarre mix of feelings about photographs.
Everyone I meet claims to be a photographer but it is photos like this that demonstrate that while anyone can take a snapshot, not everyone can reach anywhere near this deep in terms of raising questions.

I agree. I had a roommate once that liked Bragg, until one time walking in the room as I was playing this - he asked me 'what the hell are you playing THIS for?!' like it was the worst thing he'd ever heard. It took a bit of time before he realized the extent of his mistake.
What a beautifully uncharacteristic song.
"blue velvet america"-from the opening words we know where we are going in this, surely one of his finest pieces. different production from what we were used to on the album, showing his true talent as a musician.
one of my fav tracks by bragg.
