Recorded off from old 8mm film.

Shifu demonstrated the set for Taiwan TV in 1987. Shifu also did some "fast taiji."

Master Chiang learned from Master Kuo Lien Ying and Master Wang Chi-chien. Both men learned from Master Wang Jiao-yu. From Master Wang Chi-chien, Master Chiang learned Taiji sword, fast taiji, reverse taiji, breathing taiji, single-movement taiji and mind-body taiji.

  • Moves like a stalking cat.

  • anyone who says that his arms have no connection to his legs or stance, has not trained long enough in Tai Chi to be able to see it. This man is certainly the real deal, his energy flow is smooth and he is exceptional. Because someone knows something of the Tai Chi classics and Yang, Wu or Chen style, doesn't mean they've mastered everything there is to know!

  • Perfect form!!! Perfect extended Qi!!! He is even more impressive in person. You can feel his essence everywhere.

  • The video response I posted is of Master Bob Cook, a close disciple of Kuos who was personally taught by Kuo.

  • U kuje the fast set better than the slow movements which at times looked kind of funny postures :-( but then again, If I have to learn the fast set, i would rather learn Shaolin styles. I have watched so many Guang Ping taichi style performed, and NONE to my 'lousy" liking taste :-( Don't know why. I prefer to watch Yang Zhenduo performed Yang style.

  • I've spotted a lot of postures that are a little questionable also. I agree with you completely on the double weighted issue.

However, I have only a limited exposure to this particular branch of yang style taiji. I'm reading Kou Lien Ying's books right now and currently investigating this particular aspect of taiji. I'm looking forward to finding out why this form is this way.

If you're interested, I'll offer insight as it comes.

  • I believe Gieszkanne's tongue is all over the place without connection!

  • I do not know about your Wu or Chen style, but in Yang style I am aware that the 8 energies are distributed differently than in the other families. Each family focuses on different energies for different moves, especially in the Guang Ping form (which, at least in my lineage, has been passed down through a lot of Hsing-yi people). Of all the videos on Youtube, he has the best understanding of Guang Ping. There is nothing else out there in the Tai Chi C'huan forms that looks like Guang Ping.

  • oh yes and in the night it's getting dark.

  • every master has their own flavor.
