@KrisYYZ Sorry, but you're wrong. No one can help you when violent criminals attack you but yourself. If the criminal has a gun, and you dont, you won't live to tell anyone about it. Take a seat at the kiddie table please, you aren't able to talk at this level.

i never thaught i would get into handguns and assult rifles when i first got my FAC in the early 90's but when paul martin opened his big fat mouth about banning handguns i started getting into it. as a hunter and one who believes in self deffence i vow to protect all responsable gun activitys. armed men are free men.

One's freedom to own and enjoy firearms usurps anybody's unwarranted fear about their existence. Handguns have been banned in other places, including the UK, and crime rates have increased. The city of Toronto should be concentrating on poverty and criminals, not people who have complied with the law and registered their gun(s).
Men and women who own guns in Canada include doctors, lawyers, teachers, etc. And they shouldn't have to be treated like criminals to enjoy their sport.

@KrisYYZ I too live in Canada and have faced more crime in Canada than in any city in the U.S. I have been in the most violent cities in the U.S.
Likewise I have also traveled the world and been to the most violent places on the earth, yet I would prefer that LAW ABIDING be allowed to defend themsleves andnot be treated the same as the criminal.

@snobak1 I don't know. What I do know is most of the safest cities in the world don't allow private gun ownership or concealed weapons. The US is a different story. Gun ownership is apart of the American psyche. Perhaps carrying a loaded weapon makes sense in most major US cities, but that is why I live in Canada. I am willing to be that if Chicago or Washington DC allowed concealed weapons, the crime rate would drop but it would still be very high when compared to other major cities.
-
@KrisYYZ My question to you is...all those things are to blame then why is it in places that allow concealled carry and easier access to guns actually have lower crime rates than places like Chicago,Washington,D.C. and places that have strict gun control?
-
@snobak1 The economy, poverty and a corrupt police force are also to blame for increasing crime rates in some US cities. Private gun ownership is not a silver bullet that would solve the crime problem. Personally, I think that Canada needs to crack down on illegal guns coming across the border from the US. An intelligent and law abiding person would not buy a stolen gun. Allow gun ownership but that must be accompanied with stronger firearms education.
This comment has received too many negative votes show
Handguns only have one use, and that is to kill people. Having a gun in a urban setting like Toronto doesn't make sense at all. The statistics quoted here are erroneous. The guns do not create a safer environment.

easy to say until you've got a violent man breaking down your door at 2 AM.

"We hold that the individual has the right to own and bear arms. Consequently we oppose restrictions on the ownership or use of guns or any other arms. General arms restrictions deprive the individual of his/her right to self-defense in an emergency situation while leaving the criminal fully armed." -- Libertarian Party of Canada

I'd like to get involved in the Libertarian party, but what with the proposed ban on semi-autos that the Liberals are pushing, I want to make very sure they don't take power in the next election. I happen to be interested primary in weapons they don't want me to own.

Return of math videos in September?
Oh, and any recommendation for profs to take 2nd year EE courses from? You can always attend a different lecture, but it's much handier if you're in their class.

So EE it is?
For EE 280, I recommend Dr. Lukasz Kurgan. I really liked his lectures. He was interesting, although he has a bit of an accent.
For EE 240, I honestly can't recommend a professor. Mine put me to sleep. If Jeremy Sit is available, he's very good but I think he only teaches 3rd year. I'll do more digging on that.
I'll finish this list on facebook. Also, I plan to do math videos as soon as possible, hopefully before september.
