this isn't MJ's first album ever. his first album was Got To Be There in 1971. this is just the album that established him as a serious solo artist and not just part of the Jackson 5 franchise.
his previous albums were: Got to Be There, Ben, Music & Me, and Forever Michael. this was actually his 5th solo album.

But during that time he was with the Jacksons.Those are not his own albums.
Those were the times when he and his brothers perform.that is the Jackson 5's albums
