Hey everyone!

This video is of me explaining how I am converting this Aerosoft .40 gas trainer to an E-flyer for flying around at Marymoor RC Club.

My Grandpa picked this 1989 kit up in the early 90s and built it years after that. I was there to witness the maiden flight when I was 10 years old at a club in Central Oregon. It flew great!

After that it went back into storage until Grandpa decided to give it to me. Me and my dad decided to strip the gas motor, fuel tank, muffler etc. etc. out and make it an electric flyer.

Here is the conversion items we ordered from Hobbyking:

TURNIGY Sentry 60amp Speed Controller (with built in BESC and cell protector)

RHINO 3S 4900 mAh 20C LiPo

The current gas motor on the Aerostar is an Four-Stroke O.S. Max FP .40 engine.

The current prop on the Aerostar is a gas-type 10 X 6 Master-Airscrew

I am planning to get 2-4 diffrent props from the local hobby shop ranging from 11 X 4 to 13 X 6

Enjoy!

  • couldnt talk in to sending me a copy of the manual and plans as my Aerostar 40 has been sitting for 15 yrs in the shed. I sure would like to fly it again but as you can imagine it needs work. Midwest doesnt have them any longer. Id be glad to pay you plus postage - PLEASE HELP

  • @mollyw54 Hi,

I am terribly sorry but I already gave the plans to somone in a similar situation to you. What do you need to know beacuse I can ask the guy who I gave the plans too. Otherwise I can only suggest you innovate.

  • wow great looking plane..good job on doing the mod..

  • @badgolf1 Thanks man, Its still flying today as a boring cam platform with a failed bomb drop LOL. I also use it to train my eyes when the plane is really high. My dad once got it up to 900 feet, go check out his video 'Aerostar Altitude Data' on his channel labdatum. He has some great unseed footage from my channel :)

  • Great Job on your conversion. I have my first Great Planes PT-40 thats been sitting around the in basement for 16 years. You've inspired me to convert it for my son. This would be a great introduction to RC for him.

  • @owin385 Thanks! Have fun converting it, it really feels great once its flying.
