On June 7th, 2010 Mayor Michael Nutter and Senator Bob Casey announced plans for a new transit-oriented development at 9th & Norris Streets near the Temple University train station.
I agree it needs more devolopment but why change what is working for us here?
Why not build this so called godsend on the other side of the station or up the street where there is a huge empty lot. Or maybe over those god forsaken PHA houses. Hell moving those people out would be alot better for the neighborhood than this.
More People people= More eyes which means less crime. HA Where did you get that logic from? More people The more careful you'll have to be about those people .
@TekkamanChronos Sorry, not with you on this one. North Philadelphia needs more development. And more people doesn't bring crime. It lowers crime. They may be rowdy, that's true, but more eyes around always lowers violent crime.
Though you may not be able to sleep quite as well. Sorry about that, but, on balance, this would be a great thing for everyone. Change is good.
@BradyDale I hope it doesnt! I live on this block, its a ncie quiet block, with nothing here , no violence , you can sit outside at night and not worry about getting shot or anything.
But with this, I can just hear the ignorant people, loud ness, and drunk college students ughh, out of all the places why my quiet block. -__-
I live slightly less than one mile due north of here, so this sounds really great, but I don't get a very clear picture from this video. $500K wouldn't pay for two apartments in a building like that. Is this just a plan or is it really something that's going to happen? It would be great if it did happen.
The next place to develop is right by the North Philadelphia station at Broad. That spot is such a transit hub, and yet it's a wasteland around it. There's opportunity there.
To whom ever is running this page, what does the mayor plan on doing to the houses across from the building site?
In the concept sketch they handed out they weren't there, so does this mean you plan on tearing down the houses?
