I didn't respond to his video because he clearly didn't try at all to look for some truth in buddhism. But he attacks the structure of the four noble trues, which are obviously meant to be a poem where one leads to another. And I would say regarding attachment, that if you have none you will be at peace. But there's also elimination of fabrication which he didn't cover, and he didn't even mention meditation. His second video had no merit whatsoever.
@vanquisher91 eatin meat per se may not b wrong (unless u r harmin urself by followin a poor diet ie lots of redMeat leads 2cardio-vasculr disease as western Drs say or, eatin pigMeat as someTibetans believe it's bad for th brain) however, creatin demand via financial aid (ie bein a consumer of) 2eithr slaughtr or cruelty-based industries (as many modern farming techniques r) then th consequences of those actions (& knowing it) is wrong. If ur ignorant of th factsThen it'sNot wrong
Buddhism is definitely a religion to some people, although it probable wasn't meant like that. The best definition of Buddhism I have heard is by Ajahn Jayasaro who defines it as "a system of learning". It shows you how you can learn to understand yourself, and from that you come to understand the world.
@LotusDragon09 Go to a Tibetan monastery (or any for that matter) and tell me there isnt religious stuff going on. Now im not saying I believe in all the supernatural stuff they do or that I think all the rituals will do anything, but stuff like that is what separates religious Buddhism from philosophical Buddhism. You dont have to believe in a god for it to be considered a religion. I personally believe Siddartha advocated philosophical Buddhism more, but thats just my opinion.
Concerning the weed thing, a monk once told me: "You cant cheat your way to enlightenment." In other words, you must get their entirely on your own. Smoking weed or taking LSD will NOT help you, regardless of what its psychoactive chemicals do to your brain. It also goes against the 5th precept mostly for this very reason. As for Buddhism not being a religion, there is a difference between following Buddhism for its philosophy (what I do) and being religious about it. (cont.)
This kid is clueless about Buddhism. He needs help from people.
