thats cute, phlebotomy talking about pt care.... just like when they go into rooms and order HIV tests on patients that havent signed consent, then say... the order is for the procedure, not the consent... then you have to print out and fax them their own policies on how to draw labs.

and they want to draw from the a-line to spare a stick... but if they were a patient i think they would want to decrease the chances of having the aline clot and losing their hand from an occlusion...

maybe our hospital is differnt but our lab techs call us up and ask if they patient has a line and to draw it and send it down... only certain techs will do that tho. we dont even have a sepsis panel

if the lab girl was trying to be as smart as she claims, she would know that a lactic acid is part of a sepsis panel. also depending on the hospital you cant always draw from an art line.
