Use your heels and toes on both feet to play double bass pedals , a cowbell and hihat, all at once ! Remember..a little cowbell goes a long way. That is why I have it low in the mix!

  • I never said that was the first. I thought that you were talking about Marco Minnemann's type of technique. He has an array of pedals on the floor to play everything from cowbells, woodblock to a popcorn snare drum, but he has to pick up his feet and move them from one set of pedals to the next. This takes up time and may require the drummer to look down breaking his concentration up on top, but Marco does it magnificently! I don't need to worry because my feet are always in the same place.

  • Not to take away from this video, because clearly you're both practiced and talented, but Thomas Lang (among others) jumps around a multiple pedal set up with heel-toe technique stuff. I don't know about cowbells though; that might be all *yours*. Cheers pal.

  • @ascetic43 Thanks for the critique. The thing that is really different about this, is that I can LEAVE MY FEET IN ONE PLACE, rather than moving them around.

  • That makes the potential better for extreme speed. There is no distance between the pedals because my feet are always right on the pedals and never move from them.

  • the pedal of the cowbell is a 'speedking'?

  • Yes. This was my old Ludwig Speedking Pedal.

  • Neat technique! It seems more appropriate for subtlety than power.

  • I think you're misunderstanding my language; what I mean by "moving" is that there are drummers, including myself, who use the heel/toe to effectively use one foot as 2, and who can change the combinations at will, instead of staying "still". In plain words, drummers have been doing this a long time. Again, the cowbell might be yours...

  • Respectfully...so what's "new" about *not* moving your feet around if someone has already surpassed the technical ability. You're playing with the "heel/toe" technique; whether it's a variation *you* "named" or "coined"; and whether your using your heel and toe, or ball and toe; whatever combination of economy of motion and individual anatomy is your "take", it's been done...and excelled.

I'm not saying any of this to *insult* you, just to inform you. What you're doing has been done. Thanks.

  • I hate to say it, but I gotta..

    More COWBELL!!!

  • Master of coordination!
