The only monster movie with a disco soundtrack. You might of seen with the MST3K Treatment. It is available on DVD by Media Blasters and on VHS by Sandy Frank. It got released in other countries in the 70's but it went straight to video in the 80's. This movie is like a mixture between JAWS and RODAN except the Jaws character is a plesiosaur and the Rodan character is a pterodactyl. This is made by Toei, a studio that is now notorious for doing anime. Toei was planning to team up with Amicus, a British film studio to make a film called KONGORILLA, a film to capitalize the success of the 1976 KING KONG remake. However, it never got made. So they tried to come up with another project DEVIL-MANTA, which never got made and ended up with their STAR WARS rip-off, MESSAGE FROM SPACE (1978).

So here it is, LEGEND OF THE DINOSAURS.

  • Most of this movie is boring. Too much talk and not enough monsters! You do do get to hear Japanese country music, and that's not something you hear every day... not that you'd want to!
