How to upgrade the ram in your eee pc, or pretty much any netbook or laptop. Don't be afraid of it... it's easy.

  • Hi! Nice video!

Btw, see you've got some studio equipment there... recording musician? I'm curious.... have you ever tried recording with the eee? I did it... it was pretty much on the edge, recording audio was alright but when i loaded up stuff like EZ drummer or addictive drummer things started crackling. So. I have yet to do the ram upgrade tough. Might you have tried something like this after the upgrade?

  • I really doubt there's any upgrade you could make to the eee to make it a portable studio. Although for just kicking back and recording a little guitar when you're on the run, it may be ok, as long as you don't expect great quality.

I just kind of dabble in recording, atm none of my stuff is setup, I need to get motivated to get it all up and running.

  • what happens if in the bios it hasnt updated the new ram, and still reports using the 1gig ram from before?

  • That's generally not a good thing, there's no bios options for the ram, you just make sure you get the right type, and it either works or it doesnt.

  • what ddr?

  • Can you share the specs of the ram you used? Does the EeePc accept more than 2 GB of maximum ram?

  • Thanks for the video buddy! Can you tell me what brand RAM you used? i hear eee pc 901 can be picky...

  • I had the problem that after installing 2gigs Ram the EE PC 901 Linux only reported 1gig. This turned out to be because it had an old BIOS. What you do is go to support.asus.com and download the latest bios (on any computer) rename it to 901.ROM and put it on a memory stick. Put that into a shutdown EEE PC 901 and hold down alt + F2 on startup. Scary, but it works.

  • It's good to see that Chris Crocker has some actual skills.

  • exactly what i was looking for, great vid!

  • thanks a lot buddy, helped me a lot!
