Considering all the gay men that have been around her and supported her--Lindsey Kemp early on--I think she's pretty positive. In "Moments of Pleasure," she mentions the name of a gay man who was close to her but died, "Smurf." "Kashka from Baghdad" is sung from the perspective of a narrator who wants to be with a gay couple..."I long to be with them..."
Would it matter if she wasn't positive to gays? I'm gay, but I don't expect it to matter, positively or negatively, to any one.

Hitting the Vaseline is also a reference to using Vaseline in stage make up. She doesn't slap her bum in all interpretations of this... but the innuendo was probably on her mind when she wrote it.
