Hverir Geothermal Area

Sometimes known as Hverarönd this spot is adjacent to the Ring Road near Krafla. Because of its location it is a very popular tourist stop and can get busy, though most people have tight schedules and push on. There are various features including springs, mud pools and solfataras. Not all are genuine as some were created during test work for the Krafla power station, but all are impressive. Pathways are clearly marked, going off them is very dangerous.
