This was the 1st time I recorded a 1003, I recorded the East 1003 from the South Dakota Minnesota State boarder with my camcorder maxed out.

These two 1003's came from Brookings SD & these are prgoramed only to sound the High-Low Function.

  • wow....this hi-low tone is very peaceful sounding...

  • yes it is peaceful

  • Hope this siren won't get replaced anytime soon

    AGH! 2001s!

  • Dont Worry, it won't cause they prob can't afford any new ones, these ones were free

  • nice recording of that Thunderbolt. it looks great and still sounds awesome. as long as they keep up the maintenance on it, it will last another good many years. i can also hear another thunderbolt in the background.

  • @FBHSswimmer2006 Yes you do hear another 1003 in the background, cause there's one at the West Edge of town.

For a small town, its well covered.

  • This is the best Thunderbolt 1003 video

ever now i wish more cities had these because the hi low could be used for a Tornado Emergency when i hear about Tornado Emergencies being isseued i always think of the Thunderbolt 1003 doing hi low

  • Great video of the Thunderbolt 1003. It sounds cool in Hi-Lo.

  • Broken blower?

  • Nice sounding TBolt, however I am kinda curious about a siren off in the background.

  • @garyhstorms09 Whelens do a pretty nice high low tone that is significantly louder than the Thunderbolt (at least in the rotational and larger omnidirectional models). The older ones sounded just like a 4/5 tbolt.

  • I wish my city had thunderbolts instead of 2001's

  • @DigitalEagleInc where is this located in google maps

  • @PowerInMN Not sure where you are in MN, but it's still almost all mechanical in Minneapolis where I'm from! Mostly T-bolts and 2001s in Minneapolis, but Allertors, SD-10s, and 2/3T22s are easy to spot in nearby 'burbs!

  • I think I'll put one of these on top of my house and run it when there is a tornado warning on the radio. Though it would probably be a good idea to live in tornado country lol.

  • @ 2:11 you can hear another Thunderbolt high low

  • T-Bolts sounds brings back memories. Wish we had these in MN. All electronic now.

  • beautiful 1003, can faintly hear the blower too, how far away were you?
