It's like when you think about the possibility of your house being robbed, and you think, "That's not going to happen to me, but it might happen to somebody else." But you're somebody else to everyone else who thinks like that.

I am paranoid that if I don't think about the consquences whilst on the plane then we will infact crash, so anyway it goes, i'm pretty alright with the fact if it does happen or it doesn't happen. I just take the opinion that if it happens, it happens.

I also thought those thoughts when I was once on a cruiseship. But I never think those thoughts when I'm on a plane. Maybe it's because I go on planes more often (about twice a year) than on cruise ships (only once, so far), planes are something casual, something you can be sure not to crash, unlike cruise ships.

for me, when i think something bad might happen I normally just try to switch over to another thought. I can't help it it's just that partial moment of dread and then I move on because dread makes it hard to think. Ironically, when i don't think anything bad will happen something bad does happen
