I first heard the Darkside of the Moon album by Pink Floyd back in 1973. I was instantly enamored of the album and started trying to play some of the tunes on my accordion. However, I decided to wait until I could buy an accordion arrangement that I could learn.

Thirty years passed and I was never able to find an arrangement so I took it on myself to transcribe the entire album and create a complete Suite for Acoustic Stradella Accordion no electronics (however, it certainly can be played with a MIDI accordion) but I chose to do it all acoustically, utilizing the sustaining properties of the accordion and bellows phrasing.

Because of the time limits imposed by YouTube (10 min), and it take 13 minutes to perform the entire transcription, I have divided the video (of one of my live performances) into two parts. If you like the arrangement and would like to see printed excerpts, you can go here: www.cordeenman.com/darkside

Part 1 includes "Breathe" - "Time" - "Breathe - Reprise" - "The Great Gig In The Sky" - "Money"

  • This guy should be on America's got talent!

  • I am impressed, no doubt about it! God, it is good and how a wonderful musician you are!

  • I really felt that vibe you had going here. I can see you were at one with your music. That was nearly 8 minutes of sheer beauty. A kind of magic, even. Thankyou (and Pink Floyd, of course) all the way from Scotland.

  • It doesn't mater what style or instrument...the heaviest most arranged composition must distill to the most basic form, and still carry its magic

  • Super !!!

  • this needs more views...so cool...
