The purpose of this movie is to serve as an inspiration for all the aquarists and aquascapers who are interested in natural underwater biotopes. This is how karst spring looks like.

The area is part of Jura Krakowsko-Częstochowska upland. Crystal-clear water with strong current creates perfect conditions for filming. The water temperature was probably below 10 Celsius degrees - my hands were almost freezing when holding the camera :) Next time I visit those springs I'll take thermometer with me ;)

  • great filming but a little stressful music!

  • @salalalam Thanks! And the music was chosen deliberately - I was inspired by this quickly flowing small stream at the beginning of the movie.

  • @DefiniteAquascapeTV Good point! I feel a natural biotope is what nature created. We all try in the create a natural look in our aquariums and base it on real biotope. The other created by humans for fish growing is called aquaculture.

  • @martyhowie75 That's right :)

  • BUT WHERE'S THE FISH?NOT QUITE TROPICAL.COUPLE OF IDEAS FOR AQUASCAPE THOUGH.

  • @drjazzisme You're right - it's not tropical. The site is located in Central Europe, namely in Poland :) The absence of fish surprised me, too. There is one trout at the end of the movie, in the biggest pond, but it seems that there are no fish in pools and creeks situated before this pond. Two possiibilities - either there really are no fish there (which would be strange due to the abundance of small Crustaceans), or there are fish, but they were hiding when I was filming...

  • @martyhowie75 Well, you're right - to some extent ;) It all depends on what one will call a "natural" biotope. In my opinion this karst spring is more "natural" than, say, a semi-natural pond, created by humans for fish growing. I could call the movie "90% natural biotope", this would probably reflect the presence of this dam... ;)

  • Great vid, but how can you call your vid a Natural biotope with a man made dam on it. That pool is man made not a natural biotope.

  • Beautiful video

  • @akwabiotop The water level looked low, Dry season? summer time? Where I'm from the trout and other fish leave river systems and streams during times of lower water level.
