Homemade night vision scope

I built this night vision scope from spare parts in 2006. while it technically isn't a light amplification device, it is a way to see in the dark, kind of an "Invisible Flashlight" using invisible infrared light.

FAQ:

1. how do I find out which wires to use on the camera and viewfinder?

A: first you need to get your viewfinder working. use a 1.5 volt battery and try connecting it across different leads from the viewfinder till you get it to light up. you are using low voltage so as not to damage anything while you do your testing. once you find the power wires, mark them, and then you should be ok to use 9 volts. Next, power up your camera and, with the viewfinder on, test each of the leads with the camera outputs until you get a picture.

2: What is the best type of camera to use?

A: A small black and white "Spy camera" will do the job best. Black and white cameras are more sensitive to infrared light.

3: How many infrared LEDs should I use?

A: the more you use, the more you will be able to see, so use as many as possible.

4: Did you copy this from Kipkay?

A: No. I built this in 2006, before I even had a computer. if you still need help, check out his video. he shows more details on how he built his. I'm pretty much just showing and telling in this video.
