Lewis Falls & Crystal Lake (3-28-2011)

Recently I saw that Highway 39 is open to Crystal Lake.That portion of highway 39 has been closed for years so I had to check out a waterfall that was on part of the road was closed. First up is the 40 foot Lewis Creek Falls, a short hike and the trail has been covered up by a few fallen trees. The hike only takes about 45 minutes round trip. Flowing pretty darn good right now.
Then Crystal lake.....the lake looked awesome with the snow all around. The road to the lake was closed but we parked at the snack bar ( Witch has some good chili ) and walked from there. Took a short swim and headed back down.

Wow I just fished that lake last Christmas before any snow had shown up. The lake looks much fuller now.

I didn't know they had already reopened the 39! That's exciting!:D Thanks for sharing David! Your video at the lake is awesome too btw, and pretty crazy going swimming when there's snow on the ground! haha

Oh! I was not aware the 39 was opened to the lake from Azusa. I:ve got to go there this spring!
BTW, the West Fork was full of water falls from the cliff above the trails beyond the 3 mile post. They are beautiful. If you cans spare 3 to 4 hours, I recommend you should check them out

Crystal Lake?? How do we get there?? From the Crest Hwy?? Gee, I wanna go.... The last time I was there was like 10 years ago ; (

@tytytji From Azusa and the 210 fwy take highway 39 north to the end of the road. signs will point you there. The 39 is still closed from Crystal Lake to the Crest Hwy.
