Verizon truck surrounded by Wellfleet high tide

WELLFLEET - An empty Verizon truck sat surrounded by high tide water almost to the top of its tires this afternoon on Lieutenant Island Road.

Photos of the truck taken by a Cape Cod Times photographer show it sitting near the Lieutenant Island Bridge.

The truck was empty and authorities were nearby to monitor the situation just in case, according to emergency radio broadcasts.

No further information was available from authorities.

The National Weather Service warned of possible coastal flooding on Cape Cod from today's heavy rain and high winds.
