What a joy to find this on youtube. I had the great good fortune to have been gifted a box seat for her Carnegie Hall debut. The audience went wild after she sang this and she grabbed the edge of the piano and said, "I don't know about you, but I'm so excited I don't know if I can sing another note." She then gave an encore of the aria and the audience went totally insane. I clapped so hard that my hands hurt for two days afterwards. She is just as good here, some 25 years later.

In 1989 she was 55 (or 60, according to New Grove's dates); I'd like to hear if Bartoli will sing at 60.
After La Scala recital in 1981, I never saw Jackie so thin!

0:38 - throat full of marbles effect - love it! :) And the rest, well, it's Marilyn Horne, can we expect anything less than perfection? ;)

Thanks for the post! Not only is the voice in great shape, she looks great as well.
Wow! Was she in good form and voice on this occasion! And outdoors, no less! By the way, what's the date on this "Opera in the Park" concert, hotazzoperastud?
