Nice work! Great video!

So how did you find or make the tool and how did you determine its spline profile?

Why wouldn't a Rzeppo joint work in a differential?
No spilines, just a tripod bearing.
Compactness is the goal I presume.

Nice rig man!

wow ... that cool.
What kind of cutter is that and where can I buy one???
Also, does that cutter allow for different inserts for cutting different types of splines. Reason I'm asking is, I need to cutting some 540 & 1000 rpm splines for a piece of farm equipment we own and I'm kind of at a lose as how to do it without spending a ton of cash on a specialized equipment.

Good job... very helpful. I need to do this on a motor/transmission swap (backyard machine shop with small mill and lathe).
Where do you buy the spline cutter?
Thanks from Baltimore!

Is that a hardened axle that you are cutting?

Yes, the shaft is still hard. It's junkyard fresh :) It gets turned hard and cut hard. I think everyone that shortens stock shafts does it that way - at least I've never found anyone that anneals and re-hardens.
