the k9 treated the mailman as an invasion to its HOME where it lives....so that is why it did not obey commands because its protective instincts on its home turf overrode obedience. the k9 associated obedience in such cases outside of the home, at work. my guess.
@k9fado I have damn clue what YOU are talking about. Whom are you addressing? Just a random 90% of respondents? Are you pro cop dog? anti cop dog? anti mailman? You've made no point except this was a police dog (as evidenced by the description AND the audio) and that a lot [sic] of posts are funny. Which ones?
um, why was a trained and licensed police dog just running loose in the front garden??? He should have been in a kennel or under the direct and immediate control of his handler ie on a lead or a couple of feet away at the most.
This the handler fault and not the dog who perceived the mail man as a threat as he entered the dogs 'territory'!
you say he attacked unprovoked.. the dog language is very different from ours, thats why you dont know what the postman did to provoke the dog or to give him the feeling that he is being provoked...
Alot of these postings are just funny 90% of you have damn clue what you are talking about.Sorry for the bite but come on its a police dog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
who knows what really happened i mean maybe the mailman was threatening the dog and he did what all dogs do and attacked him, or either the dog saw him as a threat and attacked which is different, but point blank is that now the owner should have a better watch for his dog so it doesnt happen again
But if it was a pitbull, everyone would automatically say the dog is vicious and should be put down. Goes to show ANY dog can attack, trained or not!
