Dear Prima Regazza: Thank you for your great reply. I performed this aria lastTuesday for the Harmelodic Club of Ottawa, (of which I am past president). I am also an Early Music soprano, and use the same technique you do. Although I am not 'religious', I enjoy the symbolism in the music itself, of the works of many Late Renaissance/Early Baroque composers. I am very thankful that we have You Tube. Even though I am a professional, I've discovered much from this wonderful service.
@SuperMischa123 .. your post made me smile, as an owner of an 8 mth old tabby kitten myself .. she manages to sleep through my highest notes, not sure how she manages that! This aria makes me think of "eternity" also .. i've already decided i want it at my funeral too (hopefully not anytime soon - i'm 28)
A couple of weeks ago, our wonderfully musical cat was killed by a hit-and run driver. In his honor, to close the brief memorial service, I'll be singing this wonderful aria. Thank you for your interpretation. Handel was indeed a true humanist. His vision of 'eternity' is obvious in this aria, and our cat loved this work.
