I remember this song when I was a young new mama, singing along with the car radio. So nice to find this oldie on here, love the turntable! ♥ Ya just slow down! LOL ♥
Happy Hanukkah. Thanks for putting this on with the actual vid of this groovy old record player--I'm observing Hanukkah this year and this my Dreidel Song!
I remember when this song came out in '72. People either loved or hated it. It had very thought provoking lyrics. But it wasn't a "groovy" song at all. It demanded attention. You couldn't play it at a party or dance to it. In the late 60's, this would have been a big hit. But by '72 people didn't want to think, they just wanted to party. Even Stevie Wonder's great Living For The City the next year only made it to #8.
Don Mclean never fails to surprise with the sudden twists n turns that he takes us along through his melodious voice!!! True Genius!!!

I agree with Juliano 66 - this Dreidel wasn't made out of clay! This is stone rock & roll and a rich slice of American Pie!

When this song came out, I couldn't wait to hear it on the radio. But it never moved up the charts, much to my disappointment. Great tune.
