A video I made using Napoleon: Total War footage from the scenario battle of Borodino. Music is from the Napoleonic era, specifically La Victoire est à Nous and op. 49 from Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture. This is my first video of this type, so it isn't perfect.

I do not own the rights to this content of this video. This video is made for entertainment purposes only and not for profit or other commercial purposes.

  • I heard it was like 130'000 against 130'000. Isn't that one of the biggest battles in history?

  • @The90slim90 It was fairly large. However World War I & II battles dwarf the Napoleonic Wars by leaps and bounds. The biggest battle in the Napoleonic Wars was Leipzig.

Borodino certainly was the most brutal. Both sides were highly determined to defeat the other. Also, Napoleon attacked the Russians in their prepared defenses in a frontal assault rather than in a flank attack.

  • Well, all in all great stuff. But. The battle of Borodino ( like most other engagements of that time ) was in fact a number of massed French attacks on a line of Russian field-fortifications. We are talking about a line of "redans" with 3-4 meter high earth walls, brizzling with guns and anti personnel trenches. So, nothing like the action shown in the video. Don't want to rain on anybody's parade here, but the makers ( Creative Assembly ) of Total War should look into those little details.

Yes that is true. Not to mention that the scale is WAY smaller. And I doubt the Great Redbout was as large as it is in the game. The Austerlitz map is even worse, with the Pratzen heights being a gigantic mountain (which incidentally tires your troops out when you attempt to march up it), rather than the gradual slope and peak that they really were.

  • anyone know the name of the piece of music that comes on at 1:18? ive heard it in napoleonic movies and other related stuff

  • @radiopinkzeppelin2

It is La victoire est à nous.

  • @Shellshock1918 But the world war I & II battles weren't like "classic battles" anymore, if you understand me. I'll look up the Leipzig battle.

  • @eagle7247 The music was perfect. It was relavent and fitting. Both songs were related to napoleonic warfare and the battle of borodino. Whatever that shit is that you would like to be put in has nothing to do with the video.

  • You should really put this song to music. something like Conquest of Paradise by Vangelis

  • @Stratos4Kamikaze You have to disable them before you launch a game/replay. To disable them set them to "never".
