A montage of the Tropical Update screen from The Weather Channel. The first still is from an unknown year in the mid 80's, followed by 1988 and each consecutive year. 2001 and 2002 were similar and I did not include 2002, as well as 2007 is the same screen at 2006.

When possible I tried to get John Hope in the shot as he was the one and only hurricane expert.

  • At 0:24, does anyone know where that map is in what part of the world?

  • it is a radar of Hurricane Andrew in Florida in 1992.

  • that guy looks too serious .. clearly doesn't spend much time in the tropics himself :D .. how does someone become a "hurricane expert" anyway?

  • He was serious, when a hurricane was approaching, you could trust John Hope to tell you exactly what was going to happen with out and hype or BS that you get today.

He was with the National Hurricane Center from the mid 60's until 1982 when he came to TWC until a year before he passed away.
