EU urged Bulgaria to change the legislation on public gathering and free expression of thought, which would enable the party of the Macedonian minority UMO „Ilinden" - PIRIN to hold public gatherings.

EU Ministerial Committee requested from Bulgaria to deliver a copy of the new draft-law on public gathering and to provide continuous information on developments concerning this law.

In the second decision, the EU Ministerial Committee calls Bulgaria to put efforts into registration of UMO (United Macedonian Organisation) Ilinden Pirin as a political party, in line with the rulings of the European Human Rights Court.

Bulgaria has been notified that a constant monitoring until the December's session of the Committee, will apply for this issue also.

"This represents a major step forward. But, having in mind the stubbornness of the Bulgarian authorities, I don't think that registration will take place immediately," the President of OMO „Ilinden" - PIRIN Stojko Stojkov told A1 TV Station.
