  • Right. Ron Paul is hardly "The Wire candidate."

Right. Ron Paul is hardly "The Wire candidate."

David Simon's vision for The Wire is to show the oft forgotten effects of unencumbered capitalism. But that doesn't mean he hates institutions in and of themselves. Nor is he necessarily against "big government"—he likes the New Deal and the Great Society—two of the programs most hated by "small-government" advocates. David Simon is interested in communitarian approaches to capitalist reform.

  • What are you talking about? Ron Paul believes in lasseiz-faire economics, which is the exact thing Simon decries in The Wire. Quit being disingenous.

  • You guys did a great job!!!!Thanks you touched my soul!!!!

  • hey krucoff, price wrote the color of money, not collaberated on it.

  • obama has been quoted that the wire is his only real obsession on television

  • "They killed Stringer! That's some cold shit!" Bahahahahaha!

  • Oh, and...

    1) Abolish the department of education and "no child left behind" which has made education even worse and taken away even more power from teachers (much of season 4)

    2) Bringing troops home, thus saving billions of dollars which would allow for the abolishment of the IRS. Lower taxes mean more prosperity for people on low incomes looking to start their own businesses etc.

  • A few things ron paul would do that no other republican candidate will touch.

    1) An end to the war on drugs (season's 3s thesis I believe)

    2) Legalising competition to the fed reserve which would help halt inflation caused by printing money which is what destroys the middle class and the poor

    3) Respecting the second amendment which would mean people in these neighbourhoods could defend themselves instead of having the guns only in the hands of the dealers.

  • Obviously it's going to take a LOT of work to turn these neighbourhoods around. Hell, many of these children have been permanently damaged in their youth, it might be IMPOSSIBLE. But Ron Paul does not just say things without thought, he has written extensively on all his ideas and explains eloquently why every single one of his positions would help people, ESPECIALLY the poor. David Simon is a smart man but I'm sure he would find common ground with paul and maybe even learn a few things!

  • I admire Ron Paul's supporters for showing so clearly how clearly undemocratic our election process is. Through your support, you've shown how biased and undemocractic mainstream media is. But Ron Paul's domestic policy would not lead to the kind of change that could actually made a show like the Wire irrelevant.

  • It is clear that Ron Paul's position on property rights, social security and even home schooling that Ron Paul wouldn't help solve the most pressing problems affecting America's rotting urban centres. Season 3. Big reform, then business as usual.
