Cathy Oshrain, who was born deaf, teaches sign language to students who can hear at North Miami Beach Senior High School. Oshrain is the only deaf teacher teaching students who can hear in South Florida. Emily Michot / Miami Herald Staff

you realize that deaf people are sorry also for you because you have to hear all the horrible things in these world.

my daughter is deaf and her teacher is deaf also and she is doing a great job and gives my daughter alot of support and she wants to be a teacher and also in 4th grade and on the a & b honor roll

Im glad to see that hearing people accept the Deaf society and the deaf people themselves. Its nice to see people accept this teacher for who she is and her disability. and i love wat the guy says because its true deaf kids and adults are just regular people. I have a deaf brother and he is left out when he is around hearing people and seeing these students willing to learn ASL is amazing. i want to thank any students who are willing to learn ASL. It means alot to me and the deaf society.
