Update(2-15-11): This is only a teaser trailer of sorts, more of an editing test, for a fan-edited version of Enter the Void. My finished short version is complete and clocks in at 1 hour and 8 minutes. This video is not the completed short, and was only intended as a teaser and editing test.

I saw Enter the Void at SXSW, and while I did not care for the movie upon initial viewing, I have to admit it stuck with me. The movie has interesting visuals and camera angels, but the movie repeats itself alot over the original running time of about 2 hours and 40 minutes. So, while I don't care for the movie as a whole, I think it could make for an awesome short film. So, thats what I'm going to do, recut it down into a short film. I have never attempted to cut a movie before, so this will be a first for me. To practice, I made a teaser trailer of sorts, taking some moments from the movie and setting it to a Radiohead song I felt went well with the visuals. This will be considered a work in progress. And like I said, this is the first time I have ever tried to cut a movie...so don't be too harsh. And I hope you enjoy this teaser, or music video of sorts. Thanks.

  • Finding a good clip for this movie is almost as hard as convincing other people to watch it.

This is the best one I have found, nice work.

  • @gotenskae Thanks. I know it's not perfect or anything. Just sometimes I felt like doing. Glad you liked it.

  • 1KeUDjA5SX0 on yotube. I cant post link. check this one out.

  • @Raidenx3499 As for this video, like I said, it was an editing test and more a teaser for my shorter version. And I think the music works perfect, at least in my view. But, it was more of a way for me to test the editing software I wanted to use to make my short version..just to see what it would do.

Like I said, my finished short version runs an hour and eight minutes. And so far, everyone thats seen it seems to like it.

  • @Raidenx3499 The version shorter by one reel is still too long for my taste. This video is just a teaser of sorts, an editing test if you will. It's not my completed short version. My finished short is 1 hour and 8 minutes. I focused on the little bit of story we got from the flash backs. My short version starts the same as the original, he dies and I then go the flash backs, focusing them more on his sister and direct events leading to his death, and then I go with a different ending.

The concept of a short version doesn't bother me. There's already a shorter cut available On Demand (Gaspar Noe himself claims an entire reel of the movie is not essential to the film).

Adding music to footage doesn't work. This film is supposed to subjectively give the viewer the experience of the bleak silence that comes in the Tibetan Book of the Dead's vision of Afterlife.

  • @Raidenx3499 I can understand why some people think that. While I liked the idea of it...I just felt it droned on too long. It has some nice visuals and the little bit of story that was there was pretty good. I just felt like it got bogged down by its own gimmick. So, I made myself a shorter version. ;)

But I can understand why some people might like the original..
